About US

Goalkeeping Australia Academy was started in 2002 in Bundaberg Queensland, Australia by former goalkeeper John Gorza. The Academy started with 4 goalkeepers and over the past 20 years has developed hundreds of goalkeepers throughout South East Queensland who have come through the Academy system.

The Academy has produced many goalkeepers who have have gone on to junior and senior representative level. Many of our goalkeepers have represented Queensland and also play in the National Premier League the National Youth League and the A-League Men & Women in Australia and in professional clubs in the USA, Asia and Europe.

What sets us apart is that 10 Academy goalkeepers have represented Australia and New Zealand at youth or senior level including; Sally Thurston - Junior Matildas, Kate Stewart - Brisbane Roar FC & Young Matildas; Andre Jannese - Joeys Australian U17; Jerrad Tyson - A- League & Olyroos; Jordan Thurtell - A - League & Young Socceroos; Jack Warshawsky - Joeys, Young Socceroos & Central Coast Mariners; Murphy Sheaf - New Zealand U20 Womens Team; Mitch Langerak - Socceroos and Nagoya Grampus Japan and current Matilda Teagan Micah - Liverpool FC.

The Academy now operates Training Centres on the Sunshine Coast and Bundaberg where goalkeepers from as young as 8 years old up to seniors train weekly with specialised Football  Australia qualified coaches who deliver the highest level of specialised goalkeeping coaching available.

Sunshine Coast Squad Head Coach John Gorza and Bundaberg head coach Cale Driver have more than 40 years coaching experience between them and with their team of highly skilled squad coaches are able to deliver coaching programs which cater for male and female goalkeepers of all levels of ability and age.
