We are very pleased to announce that the Wide Bay squad has begun weekly sessions in the Fraser Coast region. Nine goalkeepers from Maryborough and Hervey Bay have taken up the opportunity to be a part of our program where sessions are conducted at Sunbury FC’s grounds in Maryborough. The timing was right to start up a squad in the Fraser Coast as we had a growing number of goalkeepers travelling to Bundaberg for regular training. We were very fortunate to have Sam Whatman at a recent training session to assist and pass on his knowledge from his experiences in England during the past 12 months. Sam, originally from Hervey Bay, was spending some time at home before heading back to the UK to trial with West Ham United and Crystal Palace. He recently finished up his stint with Aldershot Town FC and Sam was selected as one of 32 players in the Nike Most Wanted trials to join the highly coveted, Nike Academy, but unfortunately missed out in the final squad of 16. All of our Academy keepers were delighted to have Sam train with them.
